CONTEXT

Cooking Notes Vol 1 had just sold out all copies on its first run and to celebrate the occasion. Sandy brought together some of New York’s most notable food writers, cooks and personalities, to gather for a meal at the iconic Lee’s Private Dining Room space.

CONCEPT

For this dinner, guests were invited to savor each recipe in the book. The meal began with a delicious appetizer of freshly shucked oysters dressed with a funky spicy nuoc cham and citrus. As guests settled in, a warm bowl of the Green Chicken Congee arrived, followed by Crispy Bacon Banh Xeo along with platters of fresh crudite and herbs from the farmers market. The Roasted Pineapple Fish arrived at the table drizzled with hot scallion oil and crushed roasted peanuts. Dinner concluded with a Sandy Ho classic recipe of Sweet Sesame Almond Cake, adorned with the season’s Red Grapes and whipped mascarpone cream.
